Aaoge Jab Tum…
Aaoge Jab Tum O Saajna…..
Aaoge Jab Tum O Saajna
Angana phool khilege……….
Barsega saawan,
barsega saawan…..
Jhoom jhoom ke…
Do dil aise milenge
Aaoge Jab Tum Saajna.
Angana phool khilege
Naina tere kajrare hai..
Naino pe hum dil hare hai..
Anjane hi tere naino ne..
Waade kiye kayi saare hai
Saanso he leher..maddam chale..
To se kahe..
Barsega saawan
Barsega saawan….
Jhoom jhoom ke…
Do dil aise milenge
Aaoge Jab Tum Saajna..
Angana phool khilege..
Chanda ko uta raton mein……
Hai zindagi tere haton mein..
Palko pe jhil mil tare hai……
Aana bahri barsato me..
Sapno ka jahan…
Hoga khila khila……..
Barsega saawan,
barsega saawan………
Jhoom jhoom ke……..
Do dil aise milenge…
From the film Jab We Met.
This a lovely song, sung by Ustad Rashid Khan. This song has become a favourite of mine since I heard it for the first time on the OST of the film. It has found a permanent place on the favourites playlist. Its one of those which is both happy yet sad and has poignant lyrics. There’s both longing and anticipation of meeting again.
For me, the best lines are these…
Naina tere kajrare hai..
Naino pe hum dil hare hai..Anjane hi tere naino ne..
Waade kiye kayi saare hai…
So true no?
[Update: Seeing as so many people have landed up on this page searching for a translation of this song, I feel obliged to offer the translation. So here it is, beneath the fold. A note of caution however, my poetry skills suck
and I've taken a few liberties with the composition of sentences here, but I guess I've stayed true to the meaning of the song]
When you come to me dear,
Blossoms will flower in the courtyard
It will rain then, rain that sways as if dancing
Two hearts will thus meet…
When you come to me dear,
Blossoms will flower in the courtyard…
Your eyes are kohl-lined,
And I’ve lost my heart to your eyes,
Your eyes have(unwittingly) made promises too many,
The stream of my breath sways slowly,
To tell you that…
When you come to me, dear
Blossoms will flower in the courtyard…
I look at the moon during the night,
I rest my life in your hands,
In your eyes I see the shining stars,
Come to me when the monsoon rages….
The world of our dreams will be realised then…
It will rain then, rain that sways as if dancing
Two hearts will thus meet.
