Tose Naina Lage
Over the years, I have listened to quite a lot of songs…some of which i’ve loved and yet others which I’ve hated…there have been quite a lot of the latter…though i’ve liked Lucky Ali’s songs and A.R.Rahman’s very much, the jhinchaak variety of music that people produce now-a-days are unimpressive. Which is why I was more than happy to hear some new songs by a new music director named Mithoon. Now, this dude besides being my namesake and all, is brilliant with music scores. Like “Maula Mere Maula” from Anwar. The one that took my heart and all its veins along with it was “Tose Naina Lage” from the same film.
The song is pure emotion…of love, regret, happiness and what not…its just eternal. It makes me wanna believe…
The lyrics of the song(with translation):
Tose nainaa laage [2]
Tose nainaa laage piyaa savren, (your eyes touch me)
Nahi basamein ab ye jiyaa savren (my heart has lost control) [2]
Muhobbat to ek jaavedaa jindagi hai (love is eternal in life) [2]
Tose nainaa laage mili roshani, (when your eyes touched me, I found light)
Tose man jo laagaa mili jindagi (when your soul touched me I found life) [2]
Muhobbat to ek jaavedaa jindagi hai [2]
Muhobbat ki hai daasataa jindagi, (love is the story of life)
Muhobbat naa ho to kahaa jindagi (what is life without love) [2]
Muhobbat to ek jaavedaa jindagi hai [2]
Tose nainaa laage
Shamaa ko pighalane kaa armaan kyun hai, (why does a candle have the desire to melt)
Patangeko jalane kaa aramaan kyun hai, (why does a moth have the desire to burn)
Isi shauk kaa imtihaan jindagi hai (life is the test of these desires) [2]
Muhobbat jise baksh de jindagaani (life pardons those who love)
Nahi maut par khatm usaki kahaani (the story of their love does not end with their death)
Kaise jiyaa jaaye [3]… ishq bin (how can one live… without love)
Nahi koi insaan muhobbat se khaali (there is no human being who is empty of love)
Har ek ruh pyaasi har ek dil savaani (every soul is thirsty for it, every heart goes mad for it)
Muhobbat jahaan hai wahaa jindagi hai (wherever there is love, there is life)
Muhobbat naa ho to kahaa jindagi hai (without love there is no life)
Tose nainaa laage mili roshani, (when your eyes touched me, I found light)
Tose man jo laagaa mili jindagi (when your soul touched me I found life) [2]
Muhobbat jise baksh de jindagaani
Nahi maut par khatm usaki kahaani (their story of their love does not end with their death)
So nice it is…
*lyrics and translation from Prashant P Nair…from http://prashantnairpoet.googlepages.com
Loved the translation. PI agree – the songs divine. Keep up the good work with the translations!!
the song is more abt life(widout lov)..
do u think the whole translation is crrct???
me thinks abt some crrctions…dunno if it is absolutely crrct…but still mentioning..checkout..
*Muhobbat jise baksh de jindagaani (life pardons those who love)
i feel ,it means when love forgives(pardons) tht is cald life..
*Muhobbat ki hai daasataa jindagi, (love is the story of life)
..story of love is nothing but life…
@sneha
to each their own, but i guess there could be various interpretations of the lyrics(that is as anyone sees fit)…even i have a different take on that now…u have to see it in totality
*Muhobbat jise baksh de jindagaani, nahin maut par khatam uski kahani
means….those who are gifted (life) with love, their story does not end with death…or somewhat to that effect….
@hmm,nw tht sounds more perfect…ie when two lines taken together…good..
i love each n every word of the song
i potray the depth of love n agony too
brilliant lyrics n vocal n music too
tone n rythym is awesome.its one of the most puriest love songs.this song signifies how beautyful n pure love is n can be if wants to be.it also shows the depthof relation too
this song is life for me n my sister
Mohobat jise baksh de zingahi…translates more to…. Love has credited someone life (for without love life was not worth living) love has saved him from living a life with no depth,no real meaning
what does savren mean?
@riz: agreed. the meaning depends on how each one of us sees it. I saw it as love being immortal, not ending with death…so i wrote it so.
@nadia: savren is a form of ’savra’ which means dark skinned. Lord Krishna in Hindu mythology is said to be dark skinned (blue actually) and is sometimes referred to as savren. Even in the video of this song, the protagonist is shown as Krishna.
thanks.
gracias, pero.. estás segur@ de la traducción? bueno, me parece que nop concuerdan algunos versos, pero gracias!!
Hello All,
Fantastic…
Nice translation Mithoon da…
Really touching song… I keep it with old songs… It creates the same waves as the old song does…
And the most fantastic thing is to see that much discussion going on…
I was just searching for the lyrics of song (actually the meaning of “Jaaveda”, which I got it here) and came to know about such a sensible discussion went (of course, I am very late
).
Applause (self) for the discussion and for you people.
I agree this song is about love and life together. Beautiful… I have listened to it more than say 30 times in 2 days – each time I get better with the meaning. Then I saw the film to get a better understanding..
Its like love has pardoned him with life. Now his life(story) is not going to be over even if he dies. For love is eternal or spiritual life… and not physical one.
